Who does qualify

I think unemployment is only for certain people. I can tell you that I know I will never qualify.I was in the army for 7 yrs when my time was up I did not qualify. Then I found a job made $11./hr working 40 hrs plus for 3 years, quit to go to school and filed a claim because I couldnt find work 10mos after I stopped working and I did not qualfy I was told I had to make 10 times the amount that I was to be paid.

back pay

I have waited 4 months for my appeal to go through...of course I won but now ue doesn't want to pay my back benefits. I have been getting the run around for a month. Today I was told I will not be receiving my back pay. It will be put toward to when I reach the end of my claim. Is this leagel? I owe a lot of folks money for helping me get by till my appeal went through. I promised to pay them back with my back benefits. Can ue hold my back benefits like this?

Don't be so hard on your State

I live in California. I worked in Oklahoma and- thank God- filed in Oklahoma and not California. Despite the near 15% unemployment rate here- I finally found some contract work in LA. Lucky me. But the point is, I was treated pretty decent by the Oklahoma UI people. And it isn't your Oklahoma State politicians that caused the unemployment mess. You can thank that crowd in Washington DC and New york City who have taken upon themselves to privatise economic gains and socialise economic losses. What they have done durring the Bush Obama transition was treasonous and unconstitutional, and it was planned out to happen durring the transition without any public discussion. You already know their names. The history has been recorded. Take it easy on your local government employee's.

Trying to file for weekly Unemployment

Trying to get through to even file your weekly unemployment claim is a headache The phone line's are either busy or down, the internet has been a joke so far for it is also down most the time. You would think with all the people being laid off, the State would step up but it has been just the opposite in my experience with them . One I have called to report the problems to someone with workforce and they either seem indifference or just plain don't know. Now with it hard enough just being without a job and money coming in, this doesn't help spending hours on end just wasted trying to receive what you have coming to you to pay for your necessities and gas to look for work. The State has to step up to the plate if they want to be a factor in helping it's citizens in these difficult times. David L. Mills

They say...

They say it's better in Oklahoma than many other states. I bet other states say the same about themselves. The media and politicians always telling the people they've got it better than some other people, in some other state. Bull. My contract job ended on schedule with bonuses for great work Dec. 1, 2008. In 38 years of work I've never been so long looking for a job. All these years I've been an honest worker for these greedy capitalist pigs, and now they've robbed us of our prosperity... again. Who runs our country? Stomach robbing rich son's of bitches that's who.

Needs Improvement

This is my first time even attempting to receive unemployment. Usually I find a job within a few weeks after losing a job which has only happened twice thank god, but I can't believe it takes the government so long to get help to people, 5 to 6 weeks!? With all this technology we are lucky to have in this country and we can't get benefits to people for over a month, someone's not doing their job or we're using old computer systems with 5 1/2'' floppy drives, maybe both..we can buy out 600+ billion dollar companies on a whim but when it comes to my 200 something dollar a week unemployment check it takes over a month..and that's if you get approved. You won't find out whether your are approved over a month, if I failed to mention that. I guess go ahead and file for it immediately after losing your job but trust me, it's not enough to really help and it will take over a month to even find out if you are getting any help. It's almost not worth the time it takes but do it and good luck

Electronic Unemployment Benefits

I was laid off late last year and have yet to find another job. It's a tough market, but they say it's better here than elsewhere. I will advise anyone that's recently unemployed to stay on top of the benefits. I had all kinds of trouble with the new card system, and the people who man the phones at the unemployment office aren't much help.
