State Centennial

Oklahoma City Centennial Parade

As part of the state Centennial Celebration in 2007, Oklahoma City will have a Centennial Parade downtown on October 14, 2007 at 2pm. Check here for details on the event as well as participant registration for floats, performance groups, balloons, bands, etc. It is expected to be the largest parade in Oklahoma history.

The Oklahoma State Quarter

It will soon be Oklahoma's turn to have the state memorialized on a quarter. Although it won't be issued until January of 2008, residents of Oklahoma can submit their ideas for the design. A prototype is expected to be revealed in 2007.

Oklahoma Centennial Song Lyrics

On September 11, 2006, a crowd at OKC's Civic Center Music Hall was introduced to Oklahoma's Centennial Song entitled "Oklahoma Rising." With music by Vince Gill and lyrics by Jimmy Webb, the song celebrates statehood and Oklahoma's unique qualities. Read the lyrics here.

Oklahoma Centennial Stamp

In September of 2006, Oklahoma City officials unveiled the new Oklahoma Centennial postage stamp. With a design by Mike Larsen of Perkins, Oklahoma, the stamp features an Oklahoma sun rising over a river with the caption, "Oh, what a beautiful mornin'."
