Now in its 14th year, the Turkey Trot Classic is a running event held annually at Thanksgiving, featuring a USATF-sanctioned 5k race, a children's run and a one-mile fun run. Sponsored by the Eagle Ridge Institute, the event benefits a number of programs at Eagle Ridge including nonprofit social services for at-risk families, youth and women. Proceeds also benefit Special Olympics of Oklahoma Capitol Area.
2013 Turkey Run Details:
In 2013, the Turkey Trot Classic will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, at Lake Hefner.
The 200 yard children's run begins at at 8 a.m., and the 5k run/walk starts about 15 mintues later. The Family Fun Run kicks off at 8:40 a.m., and there will be activitiesthrough the morning. Race day registration and check-in begin at 7 a.m.

All runners must register and can do so online. Early registration is $27 for the 5k race and $10 for the one mile run. There is no cost for children under 12 to register for the 200 yard run. Registrants can also choose to purchase a t-shirt while supplies last.
Runners with dogs are allowed at the Turkey Trot Classic. An awards ceremony follows the race.
