Top 5 Oklahoma City Stores for Buying Electronics

By Adam Knapp, About.com

It's a technological world, and if you're not up to date on the latest electronics, you could be considered "behind the times." Electronic items are top gift items for the holiday season as well, especially for the guys. Guys love gadgets. We just can't help it.

If you're looking for that perfect technological gift for someone or if you just want to pick up something for yourself, here are some of the best places to go around Oklahoma City.

1. Best Buy

The top spot, in my humble opinion, goes to Best Buy. They typically have all the brands. The prices are very reasonable, and it's a one-stop-shop for everything from computers to cameras, televisions to appliances. Don't go in expecting the employees to know much about the items, and some of the stores are a tad cramped, but overall, it is the place to go for electronics.

Locations: 5801 N May, 7202 S I-35 Service Rd (Crossroads)
and 2135 W Memorial Rd (Quail Springs)

2. Sears

Sears is a first thought for appliances, tools or automotive needs, but it also has a fairly nice electronics selection. Of course, you have the good news-bad news of the attentive employee, always there when you have a question but also always there when you just want to browse. But the stores offer a very comfortable shopping experience, much more so than the crowds you'll face at a Best Buy or Wal-Mart, and with the unfortunate closure of Circuit City, Sears jumps on to my list.

Locations: 4400 S. Western Ave., 6909 E. Reno Ave. (Heritage Park Mall/Midwest City), 3201 W. Main St. (Norman) and 2501 W. Memorial Rd. (Quail Springs)

3. Target

Of course you won't find the appliances here, but Target's electronics department is surprisingly extensive. All the gadgets you could want and some good prices put Target on the list. A comfortable shopping atmosphere and generally good customer service puts them higher than others. Once again, you won't find clerks with unending electronics knowledge, but they can still be occasionally helpful.

Locations: 800 SW 44th St, 5400 N May Ave (Quail Springs)
and 7305 SE 29th St (Midwest City)

4. Ultimate Electronics

Ultimate Electronics is really not a bargain store. These are the high-end products, for the most part, and you'll pay higher prices than at some other stores. The other negative is that their salespeople work on commission so you may be hounded as you try to browse. However, the stores are nice, and the merchandise is of good quality. Some of their set-ups on home theaters will knock your socks off.

Locations: 515 W I-240 Service Rd (Crossroads)
and 2120 W Memorial Rd (Quail Springs)

5. Wal-Mart

Yes, yes, it's Wal-Mart. But it's tough to ignore the fact you'll find some good deals here on electronics. Not to mention the fact that Wal-Mart is typically very good about returns should you have problems. Cameras, televisions, DVD players, computers, game systems, portable electronics... Wal-Mart has it all. They have a tendency to put returned items on the shelf, something I personally dislike, but overall it's a quick electronics source.
