Bricktown Brewery

About.com Rating 2.5

By , About.com Guide

The Bottom Line

Oklahoma City isn't exactly loaded with brewpub options. So while the food at Bricktown Brewery probably won't win any awards, this longtime favorite offers several unique beer choices and a casual, comfortable atmosphere just north of the canal.

Pros

  • Good for casual dining or sports viewing
  • A couple of nice, unique beer options
  • One of the better places for banquets
  • Unique location and atmosphere

Cons

  • No more live music upstairs
  • Food is unspectacular
  • Uneven service

Guide Review - Bricktown Brewery

The Bricktown Brewery has long been one of OKC's better spots for a quality beer selection. The Copperhead Amber Ale is a favorite and is on tap all year long with a couple of other "signature" brews. And the restaurant now offers beer to-go in half gallon glass jugs called "growlers."

But I'm often asked whether the Bricktown Brewery has anything to offer for the non-beer drinkers.

The restored brick warehouse was originally built in 1903, and it makes for an enjoyable destination for casual dining or sports viewing down in Bricktown. New owners put an end to the upstairs live music in May of 2007, though, and that takes something away from its charm, particularly since the food itself is probably not enough to keep you coming back. In addition, I've always found the service to be less than spectacular.

Nevertheless, the menu includes a couple of items worth trying, notably some of the BBQ options such as the pulled pork sandwich and a giant pile of curly french fries.
