Located within the incredible, restored Hilton Skirvin Hotel downtown, Park Avenue Grill is a very good choice for a fine dining experience in Oklahoma City. With a menu that includes primarily steaks and seafood, it has a few items of exceptional quality and some that are more ordinary. The prices certainly reflect a beautiful, well-run restaurant within one of the best and most unique hotels in the metro.

Guide Review - Park Avenue Grill

Though I have not yet had the pleasure of staying in the restored Skirvin hotel, several friends and family members have. So I've been able to see how impressive the historic treasure really is. While I'm not quite as enamored with Park Avenue Grill as I am with the rest of the hotel, it's nonetheless a quality choice for fine dining in OKC.

Enter the hotel, walking amongst gorgeous chandeliers and draperies to reach the restaurant on the east side. It is similarly decorated, and you therefore have high expectations of both the experience and the food.

The former won't disappoint. With talented, knowledgeable employees, it's obvious that the restaurant is operated by meticulous management, and it's unlikely you will receive anything below excellent service. I once had a gentlemen with a personality best explained as "unique," but he was truly interested in creating a flawless experience for my table, even going so far as to recommend not ordering an item that some guests found less than impressive (for the curious, a cheese potato side called "Skirvin Tower").

Of course, I tried the dish despite the warning, or perhaps because of it. He was indeed correct, and I appreciated his frankness, odd as I found it at the time. There are some other somewhat ordinary choices as well. I've found the steaks to be a tad dry, probably not among the best in the city.

If you choose the right entree, though, it's tough to find better anywhere. I think many of the seafood dishes are outstanding, particularly the tangerine and truffle crusted Chilean sea bass. Of course, you'll pay for the extravagance as well. Entrees are between 30-40, for the most part, and some of the quality choices from an extensive wine list can set you back a bit as well.
