About.com Rating five out of Five

The Bottom Line

When I struggle to find any significant negative attributes while reviewing a restaurant, it's fair to say I'm on to something. A fine dining experience located on Country Club Road in the Nichols Hills area of Oklahoma City, Michael's Grill is one of my favorite restaurants around. In fact, if it weren't for my desire to add a little variety to the list, it rank as one of the best in the metro. Enjoy the exquisite pasta, seafood and meat dishes from an attentive owner in a dim, quiet and elegant dining area.

Guide Review - Michael's Grill

On a recent visit to Michael's, I was enjoying a nice glass of wine and the quiet atmosphere when a gentleman brought a small preparation table and began conversing with the patrons to my left. I watched as he effortlessly combined olive oil, lemon juice and other fresh ingredients. The man was, my server later informed me, the owner of the establishment, and he was preparing the restaurant's signature Caesar dressing. The patrons, it turned out, weren't Oklahoma City power-players or friends of the management, just regular customers like myself.

The experience left me vowing to order the Caesar salad on my next visit, of course, but it also illustrates perfectly the unique excellence of Michael's Grill. With wonderful service and sophisticated ambiance, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better fine dining option in Oklahoma City. It's absolutely perfect for a special occasion, romantic evening or just when you want a great meal.

Salads are accompanied by a basket of buttered toastettes, and entree choices include pasta dishes and other Italian favorites such as veal or chicken marsala as well as fresh seafood. Order one of the incredible steaks with a spicy Au Poivre sauce, and choose among the sides of au gratin potatoes, spaghettini or cheese ravioli. The latter two sound like an odd combination with a meat entree, but you'll be amazed at how they seem to compliment perfectly. Add a glass of wine from the extensive selection and a rich creme brule for dessert.

A nice dinner for two will impact your wallet, but prices are comparable to other fine-dining restaurants in Oklahoma City, in the $15-40 range for entrees, and are well worth it for the quality of Michael's Grill. Like me, I suspect you'll have very little negative to say.
