The Boise State Broncos finished the regular season at 12-0 as the Western Athletic Conference Champs. Coached by 1st year man Chris Peterson, Boise State ranks 9th in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Poll. They are 8th in the BCS rankings.

The team's offense ranks 11th in the NCAA in total yards with nearly 435 per game while the defense is 14th in total yards allowed with under 274 per game.

This season Boise State went undefeated through their WAC regular season schedule that included Hawaii, San Jose State, Nevada, Fresno State, Idaho, New Mexico State, Louisiana Tech and Utah State. They also notably defeated the Pac-10's Oregon State Beavers 42-14 and the MWC's Utah Utes 36-3.

Key offensive players for Boise State include RB Ian Johnston who rushed for 1613 yards and 24 touchdowns in the regular season, 4th best in the NCAA. The Broncos' QB Jared Zabransky is a threat as well, having completed 66 percent of his passes this year for 2325 yards and 20 touchdowns. He threw only 7 interceptions.

Key defensive players for the Broncos include linebacker Korey Hall who leads the team with 105 tackles. And DT Andrew Browning is a pressure player in the middle. He has 8 sacks and 10 tackles for loss on the year.
