The Oklahoma Sooners, after finishing 11-2 and winning the Big 12 Championship in 2006, are headed to a BCS Bowl. The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl will be played on New Year's Day in Glendale, Arizona. The game will pit the Sooners against the Boise State Broncos, who finished the regular season at 12-0 as the Western Athletic Conference Champs. Early oddsmakers have Oklahoma as a 9 point favorite.

The kickoff is scheduled for 7:50pm, and the game will be broadcast nationally on Fox and ESPN radio. OU will wear their dark uniforms while Boise State will wear white.

In the following few pages, you'll find a complete breakdown of the 2006 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, including team analysis, ticket-buying options, Glendale accomodations and travel tips and an in-depth look at the gameday match-up.

The Bowl

The Fiesta Bowl, sponsored by Tostitos, is played on New Year's Day 2007 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. It is one of the 5 "BCS Bowls" that include the National Championship game, part of the upper tier of NCAA bowl games.

Initially conceived as an automatic tie-in for the Western Athletic Conference in 1971, the game was played in Tempe, Arizona at Sun Devil Stadium until this year. It became part of the Bowl Championship Series in 1999, a rotating system that would see the Bowl host the National Championship every four years, most recently the Ohio State/Miami game in 2003. This year, the BCS has gone to a new format which places a 5th BCS game for the National Championship. Tostitos will also host the game in 2007, and it will be played on January 8th.
