The 2012 NCAA football season is complete, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys, after finishing 7-5 in the Big 12, are bound for Dallas, Texas to take on the Big 10's Purdue Boilermakers in the 2013 Heart of Dallas Bowl.
Below, you'll find a complete breakdown of the 2013 Heart of Dallas Bowl, including ticket-buying options, travel options, Dallas accommodations and more.
The 2013 Heart of Dallas Bowl is played on New Year's Day, Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Dallas State Fair Park's Cotton Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m., and the game will be televised on ESPN. One of the newer bowls, the Heart of Dallas Bowl had the 8th choice of Big 12 teams in 2013.
When the Cotton Bowl Classic abandoned its namesake stadium for Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, what was originally known as the Dallas Football Classic was created to replace it. In its first two years (2011, 2012), the game was known by its sponsor TicketCity. 2013 marks the first year under new sponsor Heart of Dallas. The bowl has thus far seen match-ups of Texas Tech/Northwestern and Houston/Penn State.
Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas opened in 1929 and was known as Fair Park Stadium. A few years later, it was renamed as the traditional Cotton Bowl Classic began there. Each year, the site hosts the Red River Rivalry game between Oklahoma and Texas, and it was long the home of the SMU Mustangs. There have been multiple renovations over the years, and currently Cotton Bowl Stadium has a capacity of over 92,000. The playing surface is natural grass.
The stadium is located at State Fair Park in Dallas, Texas, just south of I-30. If traveling east on I-30, use exit 48B, or use exit 49B if traveling west. The official Cotton Bowl Stadium website has a map that shows the area near the stadium.
Parking areas are available all around the Fair Park site: north along Haskell, east along Fitzhugh and south along Robert B. Cullum. Follow the map link above and click "more information" on "Where to Park" for a printable, detailed Fair Park map.
