2010 Valero Alamo Bowl

San Antonio Travel and Accommodations

By , About.com Guide

If you plan to make the trip to San Antonio, there are several options available to you. But don't wait because airline tickets and hotels are going fast.

Travel

Since the game is just before Christmas, airlines will be booked quickly. However, you can check availability and even purchase tickets online.

Also, consider renting a car. The drive will take approximately 7 and a half hours, strictly driving time, so make sure you give yourself plenty of cushion in your driving plans.

Another possibility is traveling by train. Amtrak can take you from Oklahoma City to San Antonio by way of Ft. Worth. You'd have to leave quite a bit earlier if selecting this option and plan on staying in San Antonio several more days. Fares start at about $86 one way, and the trip will take an estimated 12 hours.

Accommodations

If you don't have any friends or family in the San Antonio area with whom you can stay, you'll need to book yourself a hotel.

San Antonio, of course, has plenty of options for hotels. The Alamo Bowl has a list of "travel specials" with preferred hotels such as the Hyatt Regency San Antonio on the Riverwalk, the San Antonio Marriott, La Quinta, Embassy Suites San Antonio Riverwalk-Downtown, The Grand Hyatt, Hampton Inn Downtown and more. The rates for those begin at just over $100 per night.

In addition, Oklahoma State University is putting together travel packages in conjunction with International Tours. For information, call (405) 372-1647.
