If you plan to make the trip to Shreveport, there are several options available to you. But don't wait because you never know about ticket and/or rental availability only a few days after Christmas.
Travel
For those that wish to fly, you should purchase tickets as early as possible. You can check availability and even purchase tickets online.
Also, consider renting a car. The drive will take only about 7 hours or so by car if you go south from Oklahoma City on I-35 through Dallas and then take I-20 straight to the stadium.
Another possibility is traveling by train. Amtrak can take you from Oklahoma City to Shreveport by way of Ft. Worth and Longview, Texas. It will take about 10 hours but costs only about $49 and you can have a dining car for much of the journey.
Accomodations
If you want to stay the night and don't have any friends or family in the Shreveport area with whom you can stay, you'll need to book yourself a hotel.
Shreveport has plenty of options for hotels depending on how much you want to spend. Economy choices include Motel 6 and Days Inn. They cost around $50 while some other options may run you over $150. The Independence Bowl has a block of hotel/motel rooms in the area set aside. You can call (866) 601-8326 for more information.
To See and Do
While you're in town, why not take some time to visit the sites. Shreveport is located right on the river and is known for their many dockside riverboat casinos such as Harrah's, Sam's Town and the Horseshoe Casino.
Some of the other notable things to do include a driving tour of the historical Fairfield Highlands, the Touchstone Wildlife and Art Museum and the new Louisiana Boardwalk.
You'll find plenty of restaurants with the spicy Cajun cuisine such as Crawdaddy's Kitchen, Gators Seafood Grill and Smoky Joe's at Sam's Town.
