Definition: An area of downtown Oklahoma City, Bricktown was once a warehouse district, the first wholesale commercial district in the metro. In the early 1980's, development projects began to rejuvenate the Bricktown area. With the passage of the MAPS initiatives in 1993, the area began to change dramatically. Additions such as the Bricktown canal, the Bricktown Ballpark, restaurants and so much more have made Bricktown Oklahoma City's greatest hotspot.
The area is already one of the region's more popular tourist destinations, and it has become the city's leading entertainment district. From sports to theatre, dining to dancing, Bricktown continues its rapid growth.
