About Yukon:
A suburb of Oklahoma City, the community of Yukon began in the late 1800's as a railroad town between OKC and El Reno. The town incorporated in 1901, and by the 1920's, it was a flourishing industrial city that included the Yukon Mill and Grain Company.
Today, the city of Yukon covers over 25 square miles and is home to the Czech Hall, a national and state historic site. Yukon is officially known as the Czech Capitol of Oklahoma and celebrates the heritage with an annual October Czech Festival. The city boasts famous citizens Garth Brooks and western film legend Dale Robertson.
Location:
Yukon is located west of Oklahoma City, north of I-40 along Route 66. The city limits stretch as far west as Gregory Road, south to NW 10th Street, north to Wilshire and east to Sara Road, just beyond the Kilpatrick Turnpike. Major north/south streets include Mustang Road and Cornwell Road while major east/west streets include Main (Route 66) and Vandament Avenue.

The population of Yukon nears 22,500, about 89 percent of which are Caucasian, according to the 2007 data. Just over 4 percent of the population is Native American, and 3 percent is Hispanic/Latino. Median household income as of 2007 was nearly $58,000, well above the state average of $41,567, and the median home value is $119,051, about $16,000 above the state average.
