The area known as Midtown in Oklahoma City is a relatively small district comprised of only a few square miles, but it has quite a interesting history, with its beginnings as a thriving residential and commercial area in the early 1900's. Later, though, Oklahoma City grew outward and many residents moved to suburbs and other areas outside of the city. Combined with difficult times for the city itself, Midtown deteriorated greatly. But as with much of the rest of Oklahoma City, a renaissance was coming. Developments in Bricktown helped spark rejuvenation elsewhere, and Midtown's potential is just now being realized.
