Valentine's Day Specials in Oklahoma City

Valentine's Day is the most romantic day of the year, or so the greeting card and candy industry tells us. Oklahoma City residents drive themselves crazy to plan the perfect date in the metro and avoid the night-out idea that could kill a relationship.

Well, a number of Oklahoma City restaurants and businesses offer unique specials for Valentine's Day. Here are a few for 2009. If you have another to add to this list, just let me know.

Valentine's Day Dinner at the Skirvin

Park Avenue Grill, the restaurant inside the downtown Skirvin Hotel will celebrate Valentine's Day with a special dinner.

Cost: $69 per person
What's Included: The 4 course menu features entree choices such as Blue Mountain Coffee Glazed Duck Breast, Roasted Petite Filet or Chilean Sea Bass. The ladies also receive a rose, and the executive chef brings ordered desserts such as chocolate bombe with banana pudding to the table.

Museum Dinner and Dance

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum holds a Valentine's Dinner at Dance from 6-10pm. Held in the Sam Noble Special Events Center, the meal is presented by Dining on Persimmon Hill, and KOMA 92.5 provides the music.

Cost: $29.98 per person
What's Included: Dinner includes salad; choice of entree such as roasted pork loin, honey pecan chicken or tarragon-glazed beef; sides such as steamed vegetables; dessert such as chocolate-dipped strawberries, coconut cream cake or more; and a beverage of iced tea and cofee.

Heart-Shaped Pizza

In 2009, all OKC-area Papa John's locations are offering a thin, crispy-crusted pizza for the holiday shaped just like a Valentine's Day heart.

Cost: $14.95 with Chocolate Pastry Delights or two pizzas for $19.95.
What's Included: Heart-shaped pizzas can only have one topping and are only available in thin-crust.

Roaring '20's Valentine's Dinner

The Prohibition Room on NW 23rd will be having a Valentine's Day Dinner special at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. A four-course meal for two and two ceramic roses by artist Nicole Moan are provided, as well as live music.

Cost: $150
What's Included: Cilantro shrimp and tequila cocktail; crab mango avocado salad with homemade mojito dressing or shrimp bisque; entree choice of French bone-in ribeye with bleu cheese butter or pan-seared salmon with grilled parmesan, hazelnut-encrusted asparagus and creamy risotto; dessert choice of strawberry peanut creme brulee or chocolate lava cake.

Melting Pot Dinner Special

Fondue restaurant the Melting Pot will have a four course lunch and dinner special for Valentine's Day. Reservations are required.

Cost: $60
What's Included: Tomator-basil cheddar cheese fondue, Mediterranean salad, lobster, filet mignon, chicken breast, shrimp, teriyaki sirloin, spinach Gorgonzola ravioli served with fresh vegetables and raspberry milk chocolate fondue with fruit for dessert.

Special Fajita Meal for Two

In 2008, Abuelo's restaurant, both the Bricktown and Memorial Road locations, offered a special "Fajita Trio for Two" meal option for Valentine's Day. I have not yet confirmed whether the same deal will be offered in 2009.

Cost: $29.99
What's Included: Seasoned fajita steak and chicken plus barbecue-basted shrimp, grilled onions, charro beans, guacamole, sour cream, shredded cheese, pico de gallo and flour tortillas.

Valentine's Lattes and Kisses

Cowgirl Coffee is located at Broadway and Waterloo in Edmond and NW 39 Expressway and Council in Bethany. Head there for a special Valentine's Day "Hot French Kiss" latte, only $1. In addition, from 9 a.m. to noon, customers can get a kiss from area cowgirls.

What's Included: Lattes include French vanilla and cinnamon syrups, white chocolate, expresso and milk.
