Memorial Day Events in Oklahoma City

On the final Monday of each May, we all take a moment to honor and recognize the sacrifice of military men and women lost in service to the United States. Many in Oklahoma City take the opportunity to visit the memorials of loved ones and spend time with loved ones at annual events. Here's a list of some of the Memorial Day events in the Oklahoma City metro area:

45th Infantry Division Museum's Memorial Day Ceremony

When: Begins 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30th
Where: 2145 NE 36th Street, South in the Adventure District
What: Pay tribute to the veterans at this annual ceremony that includes helicopter flyover, massing of the colors, patriotic music and guest speakers.

Annual Chuck Wagon Gathering at National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum

When: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on May 28th and 29th
Where: National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum at 1700 NE 63rd
What: A Memorial Day weekend event with nearly 20 years of history, the Chuck Wagon Gathering and Children's Cowboy Festival plenty of cowboy-favorite foods, live entertainment and western activites such as wagon rides and rope-making.

Edmond Jazz & Blues Festival

When: May 28th (4-10 p.m.), May 29th (2-10 p.m.)
Where: Stephenson Park in Edmond on 5th and Boulevard
What: Held each year during Memorial Day weekend, the Edmond Jazz & Blues Festival has great live music, plenty of food, arts & crafts and quite the enjoyable atmosphere.

Paseo Arts Festival

When: May 28-29 (10 a.m. - 8 p.m.), May 30 (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
Where: Historic Paseo Arts District around Walker and NW 28th
What: The annual Paseo Arts Festival runs during Memorial Day weekend and includes 75 artists with their work on display. There's pottery, jewelry, paintings, crafts and more. In addition, the festival has two stages with live music and a children's area.

Big 12 Baseball Tournament

When: May 25-29
Where: Bricktown Ballpark
What: The Big 12 Baseball Tournament at the Bricktown Ballpark has become a Memorial Day weekend favorite for many in Oklahoma City.

Free Museum Admission for Military

When: May 30th
Where: Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, American Banjo Museum, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, OKC Museum of Art, Science Museum Oklahoma and Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman
What: All active duty military personnel and their families receive free admission on Memorial Day.
