July 4th celebrations around Oklahoma City are numerous with Red, White & Boom being the premiere event. Other large events include Bricktown's OG&E OKC Salute, Bethany's Freedom Festival, Edmond's LibertyFest and Yukon's Freedom Fest.

Red, White & Boom

2009 brings the 3rd Red, White & Boom July 4th celebration in downtown OKC. With free live concerts, giveaways, children's activities and of course the fireworks extravaganza, it's the metro's main place to be for Independence Day.

Date and Times: Red, White & Boom begins as the OKC Philharmonic presents Patriotic Pops in the Coca-Cola Events Center parking lot in Bricktown on July 3rd (See below for schedule). Joel Levine will conduct the concert and singer Mike Eldred will perform.

There are fireworks on both the 3rd and 4th.

Location: With the I-40 construction, activities have been shifted to Bricktown this year, on the streets and at the Coca-Cola Bricktown Events Center.

Music: Admission to all live concerts is free, and the 2009 schedule for performances is as follows:

July 3rd
  • 8:45pm: OKC Philharmonic
  • Followed by fireworks
July 4th
  • 4:30 to 6 p.m.: Drive
  • 6:30 to 8 p.m.: Resident Funk
  • 8:30 to 10 p.m.: Replay
  • 10 p.m.: Fireworks Extravaganza
  • 10:30 to Midnight: Modern Rock Diaries
Other Events: There will be many food vendors on hand, and there are expected to be games, a children's carnival and more.

Rules: No outside food or drink is allowed. Also prohibited are coolers, video cameras, weapons and pets. Parking costs $5.
