Red, White & Boom
2008 brings the 2nd Red, White & Boom July 4th celebration in downtown OKC. With free live concerts, giveaways, children's activities and of course the fireworks extravaganza, it's the metro's main place to be for Independence Day.Date and Times: Red, White & Boom begins as the OKC Philharmonic presents Patriotic Pops on the River on July 3rd (See below for schedule). And on the 4th, there's continuous live music beginning at 5pm as KRXO 107.7 hosts Thunderbird Jam "On the River." There are fireworks each night.
Location: All of the concerts and activities will take place at the downtown airport, 2 miles south of I-40 on Western.
Music: Admission to all live concerts is free, and the 2008 schedule for performances is as follows:
July 3rd
- 6-8pm: Continuous Live Music
- 8:45pm: OKC Philharmonic
- Followed by fireworks
- 5-6pm: Hosty DUO
- 6:30-8pm: A.J. Johnson and Why not
- 8:30-10pm: Dan Danger Band
- 10pm: Fireworks Extravaganza
Rules: No outside food or drink is allowed. Also prohibited are coolers, video cameras, weapons and pets. Parking costs $5.
