Overview:

A private, 4-year institution, Oklahoma Christian University is affiliated with the Church of Christ. Founded originally as a 2 year college in 1950, the school was called Central Christian College and was located in Bartelsville, Oklahoma. It relocated to Oklahoma City in 1958 and was renamed the following year. The school has been named a "Best Midwestern College" by Princeton Review and boasts 100% graduate school acceptance among its graduates in History and Political Science, Language and Literature, and Education.


The list of notable Oklahoma Christian University alumni include actor Jim Beaver, actor Greg Lee and University of Oklahoma women's basketball coach Sherri Coale. Oklahoma Christian University athletic teams, known as the Eagles, compete in the NAIA Division I's Sooner Athletic Conference. Sports include basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, golf, tennis and more.

Location:

The Oklahoma Christian University campus is located on Memorial Road, east of the Memorial Corridor, just off the Broadway Extension in northeast Oklahoma City. The 240 acre campus has an Edmond address.

In addition, the school formerly had a branch in Portland, Oregon called Cascade College, but it closed in the fall of 2008.

Academics:

Oklahoma Christian University offers undergraduate degrees in three colleges: Arts & Sciences, Biblical Studies and Professional Studies. Available are more than 60 undergraduate majors in 14 departments.

The graduate program includes three degrees: Master of Arts, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Divinity.

Students/Faculty:

Current enrollment at Oklahoma Christian University is just over 2,200, nearly 2,000 of which are in undergraduate degree programs. About 51 percent of the student body is male, and over 40 countries around the world are represented.

All of the 105 full-time faculty members are active members of the Church of Christ, and 72 percent hold terminal degrees in their field. The school boasts a 15 to 1 undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio.
