Overview:
Located 35 miles from Oklahoma City in Shawnee, Oklahoma Baptist University was founded in 1910 by the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. It is a private Christian liberal arts university ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top five comprehensive colleges in Oklahoma. The school's downtown OKC campus houses the OBU International Graduate School.
Known as the Bison and competing in the NAIA's Sooner Athletic Conference, OBU Athletic programs include basketball, track, golf, soccer, baseball, softball and women's volleyball. The school boasts notable alumni such as former Governor Robert S. Kerr, Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin, Oral Roberts and Christian artists Dennis Jernigan, Joel Engle and Jami Smith.

The primary Oklahoma Baptist University campus is located in Shawnee, about 35 miles east of Oklahoma City by way of Interstate 40. Covering 189 acres and including 32 major buildings, it is near the Shawnee Municipal Airport in the northwest part of the city.

Academics:
Oklahoma Baptist University offers 10 bachelor's degrees in 82 areas of study including a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Music. Among the more popular areas of study at OBU are Nursing, Biblical Studies, Elementary Education and English Language and Literature.
In February of 2007, OBU launched an MBA program at the new International Graduate School campus in downtown Oklahoma City. It is currently the only graduate-level degree offered.

Current enrollment at Oklahoma Baptist University is approximately 1,607, the vast majority of which are enrolled full-time and receive some sort of financial aid. The student body is about 56 percent female, 81 percent Caucasian and includes students from 39 states and 22 countries.
OBU boasts a fairly impressive 15 to 1 student to faculty ratio. The school employs 110 faculty members, all evangelical Christians.
