College Goal Sunday in Oklahoma

By Adam Knapp, About.com

What is College Goal Sunday?

College Goal Sunday is a statewide event in which students can get detailed information on financial aid, scholarships, grants and college planning. Students fill out the FAFSA, the essential federal application for financial aid.

Colleges and Universities across Oklahoma participate with experts on hand to meet one-on-on with students. Learning about entrance requirements and degree planning, the students spend the afternoon familiarizing themselves with the benefits of higher education.

What is the FAFSA?

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is required for all students that desire financial aid, federal scholarships or grants. It can be filled out at College Goal Sunday or online at the FAFSA website.

Eligibility and amounts are determined by cost of school, family financial status and enrollment status.

When is College Goal Sunday?

The event is held statewide, typically on the 2nd Sunday in February.

What Oklahoma schools participate in College Goal Sunday?

Many state colleges and universities hold College Goal Sunday on their campuses. In the metro area, Langston-OKC, OSU-OKC, UCO, OU and OCCC are all involved. Rose State holds College Goal Sunday as well, but it will be one week earlier in 2006 (Feb. 12).
