In Short:

There are plenty of frightening Halloween events around the Oklahoma City metro, but take the short drive to Shawnee for the annual Boo on Bell Street if you want a fun, safe event for the entire family.

Held downtown, Shawnee's Boo on Bell is presented by Safe Events for Families in conjunction with other non-profit organizations and has carnival games, live music, a costume contest, car show, story-telling, trick-or-treating and much more.

Date and Time:

Boo on Bell Street is an all day event, beginning on the morning of Saturday, October 24th. The trick-or-treating runs from 3:30 to 5, and the carnival will be from 4-8. You can find a full event schedule online.

Location:

Historic downtown Shawnee is the site for Boo on Bell. From Oklahoma City, take I-40 East for about 25 minutes. Then merge onto Highway 177 South into Shawnee. The 270 BL West will take you to Highway 18, which intersects with Bell. Head north on Bell from Highway 18.

Events:

It's not Halloween without trick-or-treating, right? Well, Boo on Bell has that. Sponsored by Downtown Shawnee Merchants, the "Pumpkinville Main Street Trick or Treat" is free and open to children 12 and under.

But that's certainly not all to Boo on Bell. Here are just a few more events to check out...

Knights Auto Show:

Name the era, and there will probably be an automobile in representation of it. Check out cars from the nearly every decade and vote for your favorite.

Pet Costume Contest:

Some dogs give you that look when you dress them up. You know the one. It says, "With all I do for you, this is how you repay me." Well, despite any possible pet trepidation, these are always a lot of fun. Which pet will take home the prize in the Halloween costume contest?

Spooky Story-Telling:

In the comfort of the afternoon, stop in and listen to some creepy tales and the origins of several folk stories and superstitions.

Twilight Carnival:

Play all your favorite carnival games. Each booth is run by a non-profit organization, raising money for a number of very worthy causes.

And Much More...:

But that's not even all. There's a hayride, a costume contest with prizes awarded in several age divisions, a "ghost walk" in which you tour Shawnee's downtown and learn the legends of the town and a "zombie island" where teens and young adults can rock climb and play laser tag.

Plenty of live music and entertainment is on hand, and the food court offers all the carnival favorites such as Indian Tacos, Funnel Cakes, Burgers and more.
