History of Oklahoma City
The history of Oklahoma City is an interesting one to be sure. Born out of the relocation of Native Americans, the Oklahoma territory contained an area of "Unassigned Lands" that included what is now Oklahoma City. The city grew after numerous claims during the Land Run of 1889. Oklahoma would become a state in 1907 and Oklahoma City its capital a few years later.

Oklahoma City Mayoral Race 2006
On March 7, 2006, Oklahoma City will hold the primary election for Mayor. 3 candidates have filed to run for the spot: incumbent Mick Cornett, Bob Waldrop and Joe Nelson. If a candidate doesn't win a simple majority, a general election will be held April 4.
