Best Parking Areas Near the Chesapeake Energy Arena

Where to Park for Thunder Games, Concerts and Other Events

By

If you're coming to Oklahoma City for a Thunder NBA basketball game, or another event or concert, you'll find that parking around the Chesapeake Energy Arena is plentiful and generally easy to navigate. First, use this map & directions to get into the area. Then, here is a list of the best places to park for Oklahoma City Thunder games, concerts or other events at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Cox Convention Center Underground Garage

The closest public parking area is actually beneath the Cox Convention Center, located just across Reno Avenue from the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The entrance is on the east side of the building along E.K. Gaylord Boulevard, and there are just under 1000 available spots, some of them reserved on a monthly basis. Public event parking is $6.

Sante Fe Garage

Though the Cox Convention Center garage is the one recommended by the Chesapeake Energy Arena website, for Thunder games and other events, I typically park at the Sante Fe Garage, located slightly north along E.K. Gaylord Boulevard. I find it a bit easier to get into and maneuver, with a number of open spots. Once you park, it's an easy walk on the 2nd floor skywalk to the Cox Convention Center, down the elevator to the 1st floor and across the street. Plus, event parking is a buck cheaper here at $5.

Bricktown Lots

$5 is about the standard for parking in the area, and if you have evening plans that include dinner in nearby Bricktown, you may want to park on one of the many surface lots there, then make the short walk to the Chesapeake Energy Arena for the game. From the arena, follow Reno Avenue into the Bricktown and you'll see signs for a couple of lots. There is also a large lot just before the Harkins Bricktown Theatre, as well as lots on Sheridan Avenue (north of Reno) and Main (north of Sheridan). Keep in mind that none of these are covered areas. If you want a covered garage in Bricktown, take Sheridan to the Bricktown Garage just north of the ballpark.

Downtown Parking

If you're unfamiliar with Oklahoma City, the Chesapeake Energy Arena is situated on the south side of downtown, with Bricktown to the east. Those wishing to also check out a downtown attraction such as the Myriad Gardens, the Devon Tower or even the Civic Center Music Hall or OKC Museum of Art may want to part northwest of the arena.

Here is a full breakdown of downtown parking options, and the best choices are probably Century Center on Sheridan near Robinson Avenue or the garage at Sheridan and Walker, both with $5 event parking.
