The first float ever to represent an entire state in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Oklahoma Rising float rolled out Thanksgiving morning 2005. The float commemorated the 100th state anniversary and featured such Oklahoma stars as Kristin Chenoweth, Bobby Murcer, Johnny Bench, Shannon Miller, Barry Switzer, Gena Timberman Howard, Leona Mitchell and Jimmy Webb.
Oklahoma Rising featured the celebrities riding in a covered wagon to represent state history. Present were Native American symbols, a rocket to signify the many Oklahoma astronauts and a look toward the future.
The float was pulled by eight Oklahoma Clydesdale horses.
