Along with other festivals and events, the city of Edmond features an annual Downtown Arts Festival that has grown significantly in the past several years. 2009 will bring the 30th edition.
Over a hundred artists have their creations for exhibit and sale, everything from paintings and sculptures to jewelry and pottery. In addition, there's great food, fun for the kids and live musical entertainment.

The festival takes place in the three downtown city blocks just north of 2nd Street and Broadway in Edmond. Metro area residents can follow I-235 straight north and will literally run into the event.
Art in the Streets:
The Downtown Festival of Arts features rows of individual artists' booths which stretch for several city blocks. Each is there to exhibit and sell their artistic creations.
Nearly every kind of artistic expression is represented including paintings, sculptures, pottery, jewelry, metal works, glass, photography, furniture and more. Although the exact number of artists for the 2009 event has not yet been finalized, the group is expected to represent several area states.

Food and Fun:
The atmosphere at the Edmond Arts Festival is almost like that of a fair or carnival. There are even a few small rides for the children on occasion, and these typically cost a couple of dollars or so.
And with many vendors of great variety, the food and beverages are an added attraction. Usually available are festival and fair favorites such as freshly-squeezed lemonade, corn dogs, cotton candy, kettle corn, indian tacos, barbeque, ice cream and much, much more.

Admission to the 30th annual edition of the Downtown Edmond Arts Festival is free. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 1st and 2nd, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 3rd.
