Much to the chagrin of the doomsday preppers, the world did not end in 2012. However, from looking at some of the top stories of the year, events such as Hurricane Sandy, Newtown and the Penn State Scandal, it looks like we might not be too far away. With hope, 2013 will be much better. And luckily for us, it gets started in just a few days...
In OKC, the highlight celebration of 2013's beginning is Opening Night. Organized by the Arts Council of Oklahoma City, Opening Night is a family friendly event that includes scavenger hunt, children's activities and over 40 live performances on 16 stages in 9 venues around downtown. The party starts at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 31st, and the finale show and fireworks will be held at the Myriad Gardens, starting at 11:30 p.m.
Wristbands are now available for purchase at 7-Eleven Stores of Oklahoma, metro Homeland stores, Science Museum Oklahoma and MidFirst Bank locations. They are $8 if purchased in advance or $10 on New Year's Eve, and children 5 and under are admitted free. See the full schedule of performers.
