Safe Holiday Driving

Merry Christmas, Oklahoma City. With the holiday season in full swing, many will make the party rounds, from work events and parties with friends to the family get-togethers. It's always a good idea to plan in advance for the possibility of the festive spirit being taken a bit too far. Designated drivers and cabs are options, of course, and a couple of metro entities offer services to keep people safe this time of year. Put the numbers in your cell phone, just in case.

For example, if you're a student at the University of Oklahoma, there's the free, confidential SafeRide program. Simply visit the University of Oklahoma Student Association (UOSA) offices located in the Conoco Wing of the Oklahoma Memorial Union (OMU) to pick up a voucher that is good that weekend from Thursday through Saturday, 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Then, there's one that I've mentioned several times - Tipsy Tow from AAA Oklahoma. Available to AAA members and non-members, it's a free, no-questions-asked ride home and tow service for anyone in Oklahoma City who has had too much to drink and should not be behind the wheel. Like last year, they are offering the program for an extended period, from December 14th through 2 a.m. on January 2nd. Get all of the Tipsy Tow details.
