I still find it an astonishing sight. Just before I wind back up on 235, the lights of the ballpark and the setting sun to my left, I marvel at the colors of the SkyDance bridge and the soft glow of the Devon Tower peak. At some point, I suppose the vision won't give me the same pause, awe replaced by familiarity, but right now that's difficult to imagine. And in just over a couple months, I will get the opportunity to dine in the top of that downtown wonder, provided I get on the phone now.
Vast, the fine-dining restaurant to occupy the tower's top two floors, is scheduled to open October 24th, and reservations are currently being accepted. The pre-opening reservation line is (405) 702-7262, and I'm guessing they are already booked for a number of dates. So call soon. The Vast concept is from Skirvin Hotel chef Andrew Black, and the menu will feature American fare such as steaks and seafood. According to reports from last spring, prices will be in line with other top-end Oklahoma City restaurants.
And if you're interested in working at Vast, there's a job fair this Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Devon rotunda area.

We visited the Vast for the first time this evening to celebrate our 53rd. anniversary and it was a night to remember. The food was fabulous and very unique and the view (especially while it’s decorated for Christmas) was very beautiful. The service is excellant and from the time we entered until the time we left, we were made to feel very special. Our compliments to the whole operation and the work they have done to make this a truely special place for our city.
