Thus far in my life, I've been extremely fortunate to have very little experience with hospitals in the Oklahoma City area. It's only a matter of time, certainly, but until then, I'll defer to the judgment of U.S. News and World Report. In the magazine's annual health report, now in its 23rd year, Integris Baptist ranks as the best hospital in Oklahoma City, as well as in the state.
The study ranks hospitals by region and focuses upon the number of specialties in the top 25 percent nationally. Integris Baptist does not have a specialty ranked in the top 25 nationally, but its 9 "high-performing specialties" has it at the top of the list in OKC. OU Medical Center comes in 2nd, with St. Anthony Hospital at 3rd. The accompanying article on methodology says hospitals were judged "based on four elements: reputation, patient survival, patient safety, and care-related factors such as nursing and patient services." Baptist scores high in patient safety and has a patient satisfaction rate of 77 percent, well above the state average of 70 percent.
