Now on the continuous learning calendar, the Oklahoma City Public Schools back to school start date is August 1st. So while most students in the metro area will be shopping a few weeks before school in order to take advantage of sales tax savings, those in OKCPS must wait until after the first day of classes.
As expected, the Oklahoma Tax Commission announced that this year's Sales Tax Holiday Weekend will run from Friday, August 3rd through Sunday, August 5th. Remember that, despite efforts from some legislators over the last couple of years, school supplies still are not included in the sales tax holiday. Exempt from sales tax during the first weekend of August are shoes and clothing under $100 per item.
