Kevin Durant Restaurant and Other Bricktown Additions

The development of Bricktown has had its ups and downs since the original MAPS initiatives passed back in 1993. There have been grand proposals that never materialized, and many still lament empty buildings and an overall lack of retail offerings. As an entertainment and restaurant district, though, the area is doing well. And it's about to get even better.

On Friday, Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant announced plans to open a new restaurant in Lower Bricktown. To be located just west of Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill, the one-story, canal-side operation will be a combination of an upscale restaurant and a sports bar. Running things will be the Hal Smith Restaurant Group, the company in charge of other metro eateries such as Charleston's, Redrock Canyon, Upper Crust Pizza, Ted's, Mahogany and Toby Keith's. Construction begins in just a few weeks.

Here are a couple of other Bricktown developments:

  • The building that previously housed Falcone's Pizza is the site of Fuzzy's Taco Shop, a "Baja-style Mexican food" franchise with 55 locations in 12 states. The restaurant is scheduled for a soft opening this week.
  • A little further off is Skinny Slim's Public House, a small bar. An application has been filed to renovate the building at 201 E. Main Street, and the Bricktown Urban Design Committee should hear the proposal this week.
