Weekeng Highlights: 10/23-10/25

The trick or treating isn't for another week, but many of the metro area's big Halloween events actually take place this weekend. Here are just a few:
- Shawnee has the great fun of the Boo on Bell event this Saturday. There are carnival games, story-telling, trick-or-treating and much, much more.
- Yukon's annual "Spooksville" takes place for the 14th year this Saturday. At the Yukon Community Center, there will be face-painting, games, a costume contest, haunted house, carnival and more.
- The Myriad Botanical Gardens has the "Creepy Conservatory" on Saturday from 1-4 p.m.
- The Oklahoma Gazette's "Ghouls Gone Wild" Halloween parade starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday at 11th and North Walker. The 2009 Grand Marshals are 50's Rockabilly Pioneers The Collins Kids, and the Flaming Lips are again slated to appear.
- Edmond's Fall Family Night takes place on Saturday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and includes games, activities, contests and more.
- OKC area pumpkin patches are open this weekend.
Of course, that's only the beginning. Frontier City's FrightFest continues, Lyric Theatre presents "Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street," El Reno has the Ghosts of Fort Reno tour, "Dracula", in conjunction with the Tulsa Ballet, hits the Civic Center, and that still doesn't cover it all. See the Halloween Events page for all the details.
Elsewhere, the 14th Annual Allie Reynolds Memorial Red Earth Golf Tournament takes place at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Call (405) 427-5228 for more information. And the popular Affair of the Heart event will be at State Fair Park this weekend. There will be creative gifts such as arts, crafts, antiques, collectibles, furniture, jewelry, clothing and more, and the $6 admission is good for all three days. Get more information online.
Finally in music, head up to Lucky Star Casino in Concho on Sunday for the Stone Temple Pilots. Tickets are available for purchase online. And the Coca-Cola Bricktown Events Center hosts Grammy winners Third Day on Saturday as part of the Revelation Tour. For tickets, call (405) 236-4143.
