Labor Day Weekend Highlights
Labor Day weekend brings the start of the football season, and for fans in the state of Oklahoma, it's a much-anticipated one to say the least. The sports bars & pubs will undoubtedly be full of folks Saturday night watching the Sooners take on BYU down in the new Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington. And Stillwater will be hopping that afternoon as the Cowboys welcome SEC power Georgia to town.

But even if you're not interested in football, there are a few event highlights this weekend. For example, the 32nd Annual Arts Festival Oklahoma takes place Saturday through Monday on the Oklahoma City Community College campus. There will be music, handmade crafts, food and much more. See the official site or call (405) 682-1611 for more information.
Short drives around the metro could get you to some other Labor Day Festivals. For example, Purcell has the Loose Caboose street festival Saturday featuring arts & crafts, live music, food and more. And Arcadia presents the 26th Annual Labor Day Festival & Rodeo Friday through Sunday at Arcadia Park. There will be blues music, a parade, a talent show, rodeo events and more. Call (405) 396-2899 for details.
Over at the Oklahoma History Center is "The Scene" with Ronnie Kaye & KOMA on Friday. See performances from The 5 Americans and Jim Edgar and the Roadrunners as well as the reunion of the funk and soul group Uptown Syndicate. And on stage, Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park wraps up the production of "Twelfth Night" this Saturday at the Myriad Gardens Water Stage. Get ticket information on the official site.
Finally, remember that the Paseo has the monthly First Friday Gallery Walk. This month brings new work by Oklahoma artists, including photographers featured in the Paseo Arts Association’s "Photo Fest."
