Yes, yes, I know... Oklahoma City is on a diet. As they say, though, all things in moderation. And for me, the only thing better than a huge, filling-stuffed taco is one that comes to me in the late hours of the night. Enter "Big Truck Tacos," the metro's new taco-specialist eatery that becomes a mobile restaurant after closing.
With a home base at 530 NW 23, Big Truck Tacos is open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and has an extensive menu of specialty tacos served on Serapio’s tortillas, as well as plenty of other Tex-Mex favorites such as burritos, quesadillas and gorditas. After 7:30 p.m., Big Truck Tacos hits the road, making the rounds of popular Oklahoma City hotspots. The route can even be tracked through Twitter (BigTruckTacos) and Facebook (Big Truck Tacos).
The brainchild of former Metro Bistro and Wine Bar chef Chris Lower, former Boulevard Steakhouse executive chef Cally Johnson and partner Kathryn Mathis, Big Truck Tacos opened on July 29th and is already rolling at night. Hey, Oklahoma City has collectively lost over 400,000 pounds on Cornett's diet. It's time to reward ourselves with a taco break.
