New Oklahoma City-Based Brewery
Tuesday March 17, 2009
A reader e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago about a new Oklahoma brewery called COOP Ale Works. Apparently, their beer debut came with an official tasting at the 51st Street Speakeasy, just next door to the brewery. Unfortunately, the note got buried in my stack of stuff. But for St. Patrick's Day, when thoughts turn to spirits, I remembered.
I'm always a fan of promoting Oklahoma products whenever possible, so if you're going to enjoy some beer today, or any other day for that matter, why not give a local brewer a try. COOP Ale Works grew out of the big brewery dreams of Mark Seibold, JD Merryweather, Daniel Mercer and Chase Healey, and the company offers several beers including "Zeppelin German-Style Wheat," "Native Amber" and a Belgian-style golden ale. Right now, COOP products are available at a number of OKC locations such as TapWerks, Mickey Mantle's, James E. McNellie's, Prohibition Room and 51st Street Speakeasy.
