Sam Bradford Day

Tuesday January 13, 2009
At the city council chambers this morning, Mayor Mick Cornett declared January 13th "Sam Bradford Day" in Oklahoma City, honoring the University of Oklahoma quarterback's Heisman Trophy win last month. Though OU has had 4 other Heisman winners, Bradford, who attended Putnam City North, is the first from Oklahoma City to capture the prestigious award.

Sooner fans across the metro are awaiting Bradford's decision on whether to return to OU or declare for the upcoming NFL draft. Many projections have the 3rd year sophomore being chosen in the top 10, if he opts to leave, but following another heartbreaking BCS defeat, OU loyalists hope he'll come back for another chance at the National Championship.

Is there a better day to make those fans happy than "Sam Bradford Day"...?

Update: The University of Oklahoma will hold a press conference today (1/14) at 4:30pm. It is being reported that Bradford will announce he's returning.

Very good kid. And very good news. I’ll take Sam Bradford over Saint Tebow any day of the week. Great to have you back Sam!

Yuck!!! Bradford didn’t deserve that trophy, or even have a special day named after him…OU hasn’t seen a bowl game win or national championship in years!! What they really need is a new coach…Bob Stoops is a digrace to the OU football program.

Well then who the Hell deserved it? Sam had better stats than Tebow! Yea we may have lost this bowl game but there will be another one. Just because we lost one game doesn’t mean much considering how well we did the rest of the season!

What do you mean how well we did this season??? Look at some of the teams you played!!! If anyone deserved a chance for the championship it was UTAH who went 13-0. The BCS is a joke and I hope one day we will have a playoff system for college football.

First, I’d like to ask ‘A-non’ if he took his medication? If there is no medication, OU has great medical school/student credentials and facilities. Maybe he/she could get help? He/she obviously needs help or they are just not of this earth and certainly not from Oklahoma. Maybe you are from Texas or Florida or Utah? Sam Bradford deserves the honors he has received! He’s a well-mannered, well spoken, sharp, young man that is also a great football player and sportsman.
And, Stoops? You should be ashamed for your remarks about Mr. Bob Stoops. Congrats to both of them and I couldn’t be more thrilled Sam will be back!
