OKC Weekend Highlights: 9/19-9/21

Friday September 19, 2008
The weather looks good for the final weekend of the Oklahoma State Fair, so head out and enjoy your favorite rides, games and food. Special fair events this weekend include the Extreme Monster Truck Nationals, Hanson in concert and the Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship. No, that last one is not a typo.

Elsewhere around the metro, the always-popular Cross Canadian Ragweed Family Jam takes place Saturday at the Zoo Amphitheatre. Scheduled to perform at the 5th annual show are Buckcherry, Lee Ann Womack, Randy Rogers Band, Stoney Larue and The Arsenals, Mike McClure Band and more. I've heard the show is sold out, so tickets may be tough to find.

The Annual Film Fest continues this weekend at Science Museum Oklahoma. Films include "Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk" with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., "Wildfire" and "Wolves." Also, head to the Downtown OKC Invited Artists Gallery in the Underground for the "Town & Country" exhibition featuring eight Oklahoma artists.

Finally, the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City hosts a community walk to kick off "America on the Move Week" Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the OKC Zoo. This free event has walks of .5 and 1.5 miles with the aim of inspiring a healthy lifestyle.
