Frontier City's 50th Anniversary to Bring New Suspended Roller Coaster
Sunday April 6, 2008
When Six Flags Inc. sold Frontier City to a Jacksonville group over a year ago, many wondered what the future would hold for the now 50 year-old Oklahoma City amusement park. The new owners promised to return Frontier City to glory, and it appears they're making good on that promise. At some point in early summer, the park will debut "Steel Lasso," a new 965-foot suspended roller coaster that's being custom-made for Frontier City. Traveling 30 miles per hour, the ride holds 16 passengers, their legs hanging down from the suspended coaster.
Quite frequently, I speak with OKC residents who haven't been to Frontier City in years. This is exactly the kind of the thing the park needs to renew interest and make itself relevant again as a top metro attraction.

This is the type of ride that Frontier City needs and more of them. In my opinion, we need rides that are safe and thrilling. Something that will make you want to ride again and again and still talk about it the next day. Noone wants to ride a rollercoaster thats been around since opening day.
I think the new ride will be too small with long lines!
