There's an important decision to make at the polls this coming Tuesday, December 11th. Oklahoma City voters will be choose whether to improve an $835.5 million bond issue that includes 11 propositions to improve metro infrastructure in areas such as roads, parks, police and fire.

Here's a breakdown of the propositions:
  • Proposition 1: Nearly $500 million dedicated to street repair including resurfacing, widening and reconstruction.
  • Proposition 2: Nearly $20 million toward bridge maintenance
  • Proposition 3: Over $23 million for traffic control improvements such as intersections and signals
  • Proposition 4: Over $34 million aimed at drainage control systems
  • Proposition 5: Approximately $90 million for park and recreational additions and improvements
  • Proposition 6: $15 million for rebuilding two 30-year-old fire stations
  • Proposition 7: Just over $41 million for police headquarters and court complex renovations as well as a new detox facility and police briefing station
  • Proposition 8: Nearly $13 million for new library branches and other library renovations
  • Proposition 9: Approximately $20 million dedicated to the city's maintenance facilities
  • Proposition 10: Nearly $8 million to replace metro buses and add wheelchair accessible vans
  • Proposition 11: $75 million toward economic incentives to relocating companies
The vast majority of Oklahoma City officials wholeheartedly support the package as the metro continues to build on the great momentum of recent years. In addition, the bond issue goes a long way toward many of the concerns voiced on previous resident surveys and won't raise property taxes.

Get a full description of each proposition as well as the ballot language on the official bond issue site. Polls are open from 7am to 7pm on Tuesday.

Looks like all propositions of the bond issue passed quite easily. I think this will really do good things for our city.
