Route 66 POPS Opens Outside of Arcadia

You may have seen the giant soda bottle beside the road when traveling on Route 66 east of Edmond. Towering an appropriate 66 feet above the historic road near Arcadia, it is the calling card of the now-open POPS, a roadside gas station, cafe, convenience store and soda fountain. The brain child of Chesapeake Energy CEO Aubrey McClendon and designed by architect Rand Elliott , the "ultramodern" POPS has generated plenty of buzz and frequently has large crowds scanning the glass wall of over 400 kinds of soda.

I haven't yet been up there to check it out, but you can see plenty of pictures, get information on the restaurant menu or peruse the many soda flavors on the official POPS site. Have you had a chance to go? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below or on the OKC forum.

Lots of flies, not full menu, and only about 30 pops in bottles in stock out of the over 400 they display and advertise. Not much fun for the drive.

Have visited three times and found it a great experience every time. Have eaten there twice and the food is good. Last year in October they even had a mini-fall festival for the kids – a maze, music, pumpkins, etc.

Been there three times winter , summer, and fall over two years. Always several hundred different sodas in the coolers. Something different every time. Weekends are crowded regardless of when we go. Good food, but they sometime run short at the end of the day. I like to buy a series of different sodas of the same flavor, cream sodas for example.
