Forbes Again Ranks OKC as One of the Best for Jobs

Saturday February 17, 2007
The image of Oklahoma City on a national scale continues to improve. We're mentioned often for our low cost of living. Well, Forbes Magazine has once again listed OKC as one of the top cities in the nation for jobs. The metro came in at #21 on this year's list, dropping slightly in the rankings from a top 10 position a year ago.

According to the editors, the rankings measure 100 of the largest metropolitan areas and are based on five equally weighted pieces of data: unemployment rate, job growth, income growth, median household income and cost of living. Forbes does cite potential risks for OKC's status in the area of jobs, "particularly the city's exposure to auto-parts manufacturing and its status as a car-rental service hub."

Coming in at #1 on the list, up from #7 last year, was the Raleigh-Cary area of North Carolina.
