Oklahoma One of the "Most Charitable" States
Saturday November 4, 2006
With Halloween in our rear-view mirrors, we begin to look toward Thanksgiving, a holiday characterized by recognition of good fortune and dedication toward charity.
And according to a study by NewTithing Group, a nonprofit organization that tracks charitable giving, the state of Oklahoma ranks #2 nationally in generosity. The study's "most charitable five" included Utah at the top spot and Nebraska, Minnesota and Georgia rounding out the group.

The Jesus House usually has food and makes for our homeless and also prepares food baskets for families in need…We need your support.
A man in our office (and his wife) are giving free horse carriage rides; Pleasant Hill Carriage “Ride in Style” for anyone who donates food to the Jesus House. Saturday 10am - 2pm ..Sunday 2pm - 7pm

I just wanted to tell everyone. I called today to volunteer at the Jesus House over the holidays. This is something that my husband and I feel we are called to do. When I spoke with Marilyn (the lady in charge) she said that they have no food for the holidays yet and they weren’t even sure if they were going to have a dinner at all. They normally feed 65 residents and then open their shelter to those on the street so they can at least take a food basket. She said they normally start getting their donations at the end of October but they have yet to receive anything at all. They don’t even have enough food to feed their own residents.
She said normally at least they have turkeys in their freezer but as of this afternoon they have nothing.
