Finding the Food That Defines Oklahoma

Saturday October 14, 2006
There's plenty of discussion of food here on About OKC such as the top unique restaurants, romantic restaurants and pizza places. But does Oklahoma possess a "signature food"? In the way that Philadelphia has the cheesesteak, Chicago its unique style of pizza and Boston its clam chowder, what food dish best defines our state's culinary specialty?

Oklahoma City's business publication, the Journal Record, took a look at the question and is inviting public feedback.

Is it barbecue? How about fried catfish or chicken-fried steak? Send your comments to the Journal Record at brian.brus@journalrecord.com and tell us here on About.com what you chose. Also, submit your favorite recipes using this form and share them with fellow residents.
