New OKC-Area Casino Opens

Tuesday August 15, 2006
You've undoubtedly seen the billboards with the curiously short messages such as "Be Entertained" or "Be Swept Away." You might have seen the nearly full page advertisements in the newspaper or even the banners pulled through the OKC sky. It's all part of a marketing campaign for Oklahoma's newest gaming establishment, Riverwind Casino off I-35 at Highway 9 in Norman.

I confess to not being a big gambler myself, so I was not present at the recent Grand Opening festivities. But I have to say I'm intrigued. The huge facility (over 200,000 square feet) has electronic games, poker and blackjack tables, an off-track betting parlor, restaurants and a ShowPlace Theatre that will see such stars as The Temptations, Jewel and Creedence Clearwater Revisited performing in the upcoming weeks.

If you enjoy gaming, this looks to be a must-try. If you've already checked it out, why not leave your thoughts on the OKC forum for other metro residents to read.
