Oklahoma Wellness Week

Thursday March 30, 2006
A fairly recent creation, Oklahoma Wellness Week runs from April 1-8 and is part of a statewide effort to emphasize health issues. Central Oklahoma Turning Point is leading the push to improve the relatively dim health outlook in our state. And with that effort also comes some very enjoyable and informative events.

This weekend, Walk This Weigh will take place in Bricktown. The half-mile, scenic walk along the Bricktown Canal will begin at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark at Reno and Mickey Mantle Drive. Participation is free, and registration starts at 8am on Saturday morning. The walk is scheduled to begin at 9, and free T-shirts are being provided to the first 500 people to register and attend.

There will also be a Health and Wellness Fair from 9am to 4pm in the Bricktown Coca-Cola Events Center. Along with a variety of fun activities and drawings, the event sponsored by the Oklahoman will feature health professionals, information booths and important health screenings.
