As many know, the statewide burn ban was lifted last week after heavy rain and snow hit the entire state. Last night, however, a number of fires blazed across the state once again, several in the metro area. Many emergency officials are publicly saying that lifting the burn ban last week after such a long period of drought wasn't the correct move. Too many Oklahomans, they claim, returned to burning irresponsibly despite warm temperatures and high winds.
Officials at the state capital are planning to discuss the issue and possibly reinforce the burn ban.
