Cell Phone Emergency Services Vote

Thursday December 1, 2005
December 13th is now less than two weeks away. Voters in 22 counties, including Oklahoma County, will go to the polls on that day and cast their votes on the cell phone emergency services measure. If passed, the measure will approve a 50 cent per cell phone monthly tax to help pay for expanded emergency services for cell phone users.

Consider both sides of the debate before you cast your vote. Few disagree that the service provided by the tax, the ability for emergency dispatchers to pinpoint cell phone 911 calls, is necessary. But many disagree on the best way to fund the project.

Let your voice be heard in the vote on December 13th, but also tell other users of About Oklahoma City what you think:

POLL: Do you support the 50 cent per cell phone monthly tax to pay for enhanced emergency services to be decided December 13, 2005?
1) Yes
2) No
3) Undecided

And discuss the issue at the Oklahoma City forum.
