Tobacco and Smoking

Friday November 18, 2005
The debate over the Oklahoma Tobacco Tax continued in the House today, according to a KFOR report. Many local businesses feel like it's only hurting convenience and grocery stores while giving Indian tribes a monopoly of sorts on cigarette sales.

The other side says it's as much a health issue as it is a financial one, and the health of Oklahoma must improve. Recent statistics seem to confirm that, making quitting smoking absolutely crucial for many Oklahoma residents.

Governor Henry is expected to attend the next meeting, and the disagreements are sure to continue. Voters approved State Question 713 in 2004 by a margin of 53% to 47%. Stop by the Oklahoma City discussion forum and share your opinions on the issue.
